Google Tip Jar - Money saving tips

Google has launched a timely new service for people around the world to share their money saving tips: Tip Jar.

People submit tips and other people will vote on the tips. The idea is that the best tips will bubble up to the top.

  1. Pretty cool except for the tip to smile a lot. What does that have to do with anything?

  2. Depends. Male sales guys and clerks might cut a better deal if the lady customer smiles at them. Waitresses and other service people would get a larger tip with a smile. In fact, there are studies conducted with waiters and waitresses which confirms that they get larger tips if they do the following, than not do it -
    1. Smile.
    2. Do a half-squat to get down to the customer's eye-level while taking orders / presenting the bill.
    3. Touch the customer while presenting the bill.
    4. Give the customers two mints per person.
